Reserve Your Table for Our Cassoulet Dinner Today
During the months of January, February, and April, Portland’s Café Castagna will host a series of European-style communal dinners dedicated to regional cuisines and ingredients. Each month, a series of festive dinners will feature a fixed menu alongside optional wine pairings, with diners gathered together at large tables for a single seating at 6:30pm.
The January dinner series will run from January 25 through January 29, with a main course of Cassoulet. Traditionally a peasant dish from Southwest France, Café Castagna’s rich and complex cassoulet will showcase duck confit, housemade Toulouse sausages, and pork shoulder, all slow-cooked for hours with tarbais beans. For an appetizer, the Café will serve chicory salad and citrus salad with hazelnut vinaigrette, and diners will have a choice of a mixed berry sorbet or butterscotch pot de crème for dessert.
In February, the series will run from February 21 through February 26, celebrating Choucroute Garnie, a traditional specialty of the Alsace region of France that reflects its German ancestry with housemade sausages, sauerkraut, and cured meats. In April, the Café will turn to classic winter ritual of the Northwest and indulge our love for Dungeness crab. A festive Crab Feed will feature plenty of freshly cooked crab in the shell, salad, sourdough bread, and dipping sauces including the traditional Louis dressing.
