The holiday season is here and we are so excited for our yearly Holiday Tamales tradition! Celebrate the season of giving while enjoying some delicious food from PQN – there’s no better way to get in the spirit!
Every year, we take pride in making and selling Holiday Tamales to raise money for some very important local organizations. We are thrilled to be able to continue this practice in 2021! We are honored to have the opportunity to support our community through a tasty and heartfelt tradition.
This year we’ll be offering 3 kinds of tamales, each available by the ½ dozen:
Puerco Rojo – rich, shredded pork in a medium-spicy achiote salsa
Pollo Pipian – juicy, shredded chicken in a flavorful, medium-spicy sauce of roasted peppers and pepitas (*contains nuts and seeds)
Rajas con Queso – roasted poblanos, caramelized onions, melty queso Oaxaca and serrano-tomato salsa (medium spicy).
Tamales are served with mild tomatillo salsa, medium-spicy salsa de arbol and crema.
All tamales are cooked and cooled ahead of time and packed with instructions for easy steaming (or freezing!).
Please order soon for the best selection, quantities are limited.
In addition to your holiday tamales, we offer beans, rice, chips and additional salsas to complete your plate. We also have freshmade house margaritas (single-serve large margaritas with alcohol included, just pour over ice!) and margarita kits (non-alcoholic, add your own booze) to round out your celebration!
Holiday Tamales will be available for pick up at our N. Mississippi location between 12-6pm on Wednesday, 12.22, and Thursday, 12.23.
You do not need to select a pickup time! Please arrive during one of these two time windows – pickups will be located behind the restaurant, where our catering department lives. Look for the long metal ramp and some signage letting you know where to go!
We’re thrilled to announce that $2,500 of this year’s sales will benefit our friends at Causa Oregon and Beach Elementary School.
Causa works to improve the lives of Latino immigrants and their families in Oregon through advocacy, coalition building, leadership development and civic engagement. Latio immigrants and their families are the heart of Causa and inspire, implement and champion their work.
Beach Elementary is one of our Mississippi neighborhood Portland Public Schools, offering both a dual-immersion Spanish program and an English-only curriculum for students in Kindergarten through Fifth grade. Many PQN employees have kiddos who attend/have attended this amazing school, so this one is near and dear to our hearts!
In this season of giving, we hope that many of you take the time to research and consider donating to these and other organizations we’ve supported throughout the year, like P:ear, Hacienda CDC, Caldera Arts, SEI and Latino Network.
Our catering department is bustling with activity this year and would love to help put a taco bar together for your gathering! We also have bulk Bryan’s Bowl options…holiday office lunch? Check out our inquiry form or email us at catering@porquenotacos.com for more info.
Our restaurant closets are fully-stocked with tee shirts, hoodies, drink coozies, trucker hats, tote bags and beanies if you need a PQN-themed gift! Check out our merch page to have something shipped out or add a couple items on when you’re in for tacos next! We also have gift cards, which can be delivered by email or the post office, and make a perfect stocking stuffer!
Thank you, everyone! We appreciate the continued support of PQN as we’ve worked our way through many operational changes this year. Thank you for the continued support of our communities, our neighbors and our fellow Portlanders. We wish you a very happy, healthy holiday season and look forward to bringing joy with y’all in the New Year!
