Introducing Masa & Mezcal Mondays at Cantina Xica!

October 21, 2019

Don’t worry, Winner Dinner is still happening at Xico on Division too!

Join us at Xico or Cantina Xica for Monday night specials!

Introducing Masa & Mezcal Monday with Socorro at Cantina Xica NW

Every Monday at Cantina Xica, Socorro, our masa maestra, will serve rotating masa specialties you will not want to miss! She treats our staff to her recipes when we’re lucky, and now we’re bringing them to you!

This Monday, October 21st, she’ll start with 3 different empanadas, made from our fresh ground corn masa.

Empanada de Rajas Poblanas y Crema – Roasted poblano chiles cooked in rich Oaxacan cream $10

Empanada de Frijoles – Haricot Farm pinto beans cooked with onion & garlic, then refried $9

Empanada de Quesillo – Cow’s milk queso Oaxaca, melted and oozing $9

And to drink? Mezcal Manager Denis Lindsay chose 3 Mezcals that will pair perfectly with Socorro’s empanadas, and put them on special tonight!

Alipus Santa Ana del Río – Mineral driven, herbal & smoky made in Santa Ana del Rio, Oaxaca $6 half/10 full/15 1.5 oz

Nuestra Soledad San Luis del Río – Hazelnut, cream & vanilla, made in San Luis del Rio, Oaxaca $4 half/6 full/9 1.5 oz

Fidencio Clasíco  – Smoky, quince fruit & clean on the palate, made in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca $4 half/7 full/10 1.5 oz

The empanadas are available a la carte, or as a trio. The Mezcals are also available a la carte.

We highly recommend having all 3 empanadas and all 3 Mezcals! The flavors will transport you right to Mexico (and the booze might help a little too!)

We hope to see you at Cantina tonight!
