Ice Cream Seuss-Off

Posted May 8, 2017

Morgan St. Theater is co-hosting a competitive Dr Seuss reading, where stories are

performed by local talent and paired with handmade ice cream desserts.

(And it’s a fundraiser!)

PORTLAND, Ore. – May 17, 2017 –  On Wednesday May 17th, five Portland residents will participate in the world’s only, Ice Cream Seuss-Off. Each participant will read aloud a carefully selected Dr. Seuss story in front of a live audience. Guests vote on the best performance and that reader wins a prize. Finding inspiration in the story, theme, imagery and sheer nostalgia of each book, I will create a frozen dessert to be served with each performance. Unlike our standard sets, this event will include a 5-course dessert tasting menu. Some of our readers include professional performers like Stefano Iaboni, Shawn Price and James Dixon. Plus, $9 of each ticket goes to non-profits serving youth. This year we support The Children’s Book Bank and p:ear. This year’s stories include:

The Lorax

Horton Hears a Who

One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

The Zax

Fox in Socks

Morgan St. Theater is a pop-up dessert club specializing in ice cream and its infinite possibilities. Monthly menus are inspired by a creative theme and seasonal flavors and served up with stories. Jared Goodman, Morgan St. Theater’s creator, is a self-taught ice cream aficionado who makes all the desserts from scratch, sourcing from local farmers whenever possible. Watch his TV debut as a conceptual ice cream artist on OPB Art Beat.
