(PORTLAND, Ore.––Oct. 5, 2020)––Greg Higgins, a James Beard Award-winning chef and co-owner of Portland’s pioneering farm-to-table restaurant Higgins, has announced the reopening of Higgins Restaurant downtown at SW Broadway and Jefferson for indoor dining following a nearly seven-month closure due to a state-mandated shutdown.
Higgins Dining Room will begin indoor dining on Wednesday, Oct. 7; hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and 5 to 10 p.m. for dinner, with the last seating at 9 p.m. The restaurant will also serve soups, burgers, pastrami, charcuterie and cheeses in the bar for guests 21 and over from 2 to 5 p.m. Higgins will be closed on Sundays and Mondays.
“Our team has been busy getting ready to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests,” explained Greg Higgins. “Tables and seating plans have been adjusted to conform with capacity concerns, along with restrictive traffic patterns. We’ve also installed new tabletops, plexiglass partitions, and added HEPA filter air purifiers with UV light sanitizers in each dining room. We’re looking forward to seeing our longtime regulars and new patrons back safely enjoying our dining room.”
Guests will enter through Higgins’ front door and exit through the bar. There will be a few tables in the bar area, but no seating at the bar itself. Face coverings will be required whenever customers are not seated or when they are interfacing with staff. Reservations for indoor dining are strongly recommended and can be made now at HigginsPortland.com.
Higgins is now accepting reservations for Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 26, from 1 to 8 p.m. Due to capacity restrictions in the dining room, reservations are strongly encouraged sooner than later and can be made on the website. Higgins will also be offering a limited number of Thanksgiving Feast Boxes for curbside pickup, featuring appetizers, soup, salad, Champoeg Farm turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, and dessert for family or friends to enjoy, ready to go with reheating instructions. Thanksgiving Feast Boxes cost $250 and feed four comfortably. Call the restaurant at 503-222-9070 to place a prepaid order.
