Beloved East Portland Ringside Location Reopens With New Look, New Menu, and New Name on Friday, May 15, 2015
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – RingSide Hospitality Group announces the reopening of their third Portland restaurant, RingSide Grill at the Glendoveer Golf Course in Northeast Portland. Known as the neighborhood ‘go-to’ restaurant for 36 years under the banner of RingSide Steakhouse-Eastside, the RingSide Grill will draw crowds with its elegant yet comfortable new design and approachable modernized menu from Executive Chef Kevin Schantz.
Born with the DNA of America’s great steakhouses, RingSide Grill will serve uniquely crafted American fare with influences from around the globe for lunch, dinner and lively happy hour seven days a week. The menu ranges from gourmet burgers, signature steaks and rotisserie chicken, to flatbread pizzas, pork schnitzel with spätzle, crispy duck rolls and of course, RingSide’s famous onion rings. The chefs at RingSide Grill plant and source from an on-site herb and tomato garden while local Rossi Farms has a section of land dedicated solely to growing fresh, natural, sustainable produce for RingSide Grill. Guests will find these garden fresh elements incorporated into every aspect of the menu. For diners on the go, a whole rotisserie chicken with market sides is available to pick up after 4PM; ideal for a delicious dinner at home or a summer picnic. Pastry Chef Nick Flores’ frozen custard program is a highlight of the dessert menu, offering genius combinations of delicious toppings – also perfect for a ninth hole snack.
The newly renovated bar offers a large selection of expertly made cocktails including two on draft. The beverage program continues to support the best Oregon winemakers and brewers with 21 taps of local beer, wine, and cider on draft, and even offers growlers to go in two sizes.
Guests of RingSide Grill will enjoy a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in a thoughtfully designed space. RingSide Grill incorporates warm wood tones and calming neutral colors with bright bronze and vibrant green accents inspired by the color palette of the surrounding nature. The beauty of the region is further incorporated into RingSide Grill’s décor with large photographs from local celebrated artists Ray Atkeson and Rick Shafer displayed throughout the restaurant showing the changing of the seasons. Above the bar hangs two oversized chalkboards by artist Pascale Steig, depicting quotes from food and libation lovers such as James Beard and Hunter S. Thompson as well as the breakdown of many of the proteins found on the menu and a guide to what you’ll find behind the bar. Considerate details like fine porcelain dinnerware, artist commissioned dessert bowls, water glasses made from recycled wine bottles, and handmade pendants hanging from light fixtures, make the Grill’s atmosphere refined but never stuffy.
The five-month remodel is reflective of RingSide Grill’s personal investment in the East Portland community, supporting the urban renewal efforts and revitalization of the neighborhoods east of 82nd Avenue in collaboration with Portland Metro. RingSide believes in the community and is excited to help it grow. Major renovations to the building include an updated main dining room with added windows, modern lighting and new surface treatments, an expanded bar and lounge area, and the addition of a new casual dining area with a private patio. While the footprint of the building has remained the same, the redesigned restaurant has an additional 100 seats.
