Getting back to (daily) business

June 2, 2020

And Tuesdays, too.

Now open seven days.

As our county moves toward “reopening,” we’re navigating how to expand our service and welcome more customers as safely as we can manage. To start, we’re reopening on Tuesdays, so as of tomorrow we’re officially back to business seven days a week. Because we’re prioritizing health and safety, the store will look much like it has these past weeks: we require facial coverings in-line and in-store, and we limit capacity to maintain space for social distance when shopping (we’ll slowly increase this number to reduce the line).

We’re very fortunate that we can make gradual changes to our business without worrying about whether we’ll survive the short-term. In part, that is because we’re a grocer and we’ve pivoted to meet the community’s immediate food needs, but it is also largely because of support from customers like you, who have helped us to weather these tumultuous months. Given the events of the last week, we’ve been thinking a lot about privilege and the ways in which we benefit. There are many businesses across the country who aren’t in our same position, and in particular, shops in communities of color have been disproportionately affected just as their customers have been by COVID-19. While we can’t wait to welcome you back to the store as you venture out from home, we encourage you to support diverse businesses all across Portland, and hope that these resources serve as a starting point:

Though our social media may be quiet this week to make room for urgent voices agitating for change, please stay tuned for more announcements about our services. We’re bringing back many of your favorite prepared foods (seasonal salads, stromboli, and more), and working on plans for outdoor dining when the moment is right, And remember, we’re open for both in-person shopping (with good safety measures) and pick-up + delivery pre-orders. Scroll to the end for more details!

What else is open? Arrosto orders.

Pre-order today for dinner pick-up on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday evening, including:

Whole Rotisserie Chicken with Arrosto Sauce*

Chicken Fat-Fried Potatoes

Arrosto Salad with Pickled Onions, Breadcrumbs, Pecorino and Anchovy Vinaigrette*

More takeaway for a perfect picnic.

You might notice that this week we’ve expanded our options available through Arrosto ordering. Add a beverage, a side dish, or one of our new-and-improved cheese and charcuterie boards, reimagined for picnic snacking!

How to Shop

In-Store Shopping

  • We are open DAILY (beginning Wednesday 6/3) from 10a until 6p for in-store shopping. We are currently closed Tuesdays.
  • To keep our community safe, we ask that all customers wear a facial covering while in the store. Masks should fit snuggly against the face; be washable or disposable; and have ties, loops or elastic that allow for hands-free wearing.
  • We limit store capacity to provide ample space for practicing safe distancing while shopping. Please shop solo whenever possible to allow us to serve more individual customers with a shorter queue.
  • Hand sanitizer and disposable gloves are available at the entrance for all customers.
  • More details on our safety measures are on our website.

Parking Lot Pick-Up

  • Minimum order is $30.
  • Pick-up is available DAILY during store hours.
