Xico & Fritz Haag Collaboration Dinner
Riesling and Mexican food are so good together, which is why we’re excited to host Maik Hildebrand of Fritz Haag for a dinner featuring the estate’s stellar line up of rieslings.
The wines span the spectrum; from dry to lusciously sweet, with minerality from Mosel’s famous slate-based soil. Paired with smoky, spicy, earthy Mexican food, together they are a delight.
Here’s what’s planned:
Welcome wine & appetizer
Serrano masa crisps & Portland Creamery chevre
Fritz Haag Brauneberger “J” Trocken
First course paired with two wines
Composed salad of fresh dungeness crab in aguachile negro made with charred tortilla and habanero, avocado, fava beans, zucchini and jicama
Fritz Haag QbA Trocken Dry
Fritz Haag QbA Feinherb Off-Dry
Shrimp Sopa de Lima
Mexican white shrimp in lime and habanero broth with corn chips
Fritz Haag Brauneberger Kabinett
Spicy & Sweet Chile Relleno
Ancho chile stuffed with sweet plantains, salty queso panela, pickled, chipotle mecco chiles and roasted guinea hen, served over Margarita’s perfect refritos
Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Spatlese
Strawberry Shortcake & Oaxacan Cream
Local strawberries sweetened with honey, shortbread and Oaxacan cream
Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Auslese
Riesling is our very favorite varietal at Xico. When we opened five years ago, we had nothing but riesling on our wine list! Riesling’s delicate, crisp, flowery and in some cases honey-sweet yet clean style is perfect with our food. We get excited about designing a menu for riesling, and we hope you’ll join us for this fun meal!
Monday, June 19th.
Dinner is $75 per person not including gratuity.
The welcome wine will be served at 6pm, and dinner will begin at 6:30.
We’ll gather in the event space upstairs from Xico.
We look forward to seeing you there!
