Vote for your favorite chili and Cabernet Franc wine as Portland chefs put their best chili to the challenge at the urban winery’s annual cook-off
PORTLAND, Ore. (March 14, 2019) – SE Wine Collective, the urban winery and wine bar, is bringing together winemaker and chef friends for a fun and mildly competitive day of chili and wine tastings. On Sunday, March 31st the Collective hosts Franc & Beans, their annual chili cook-off challenge from 2:00 to 5:00pm. A diverse field of Portland chefs will put their best chili up to the challenge. Mingle with some of the area’s best Cabernet Franc producers as they pour their wines, and pick your favorite Franc & Beans pairing. Official Judges for the annual Franc & Beans challenge are Andrea Damewood (Portland Mercury), Brooke Jackson-Glidden (Eater), and Michael Russell (Oregonian). You can taste and vote for your favorite chili in the People’s Choice award for Best Chili, and Cabernet Franc wine for Overall Favorite Wine. Franc & Beans tickets are available online in advance for $20 and there will be a limited amount at the door for $25. Tickets include pours of Cabernet Franc and generous samples of chili. Chili-only tickets are available for $15 for those under 21.

ABOUT SE WINE COLLECTIVE
Kate Norris and Thomas Monroe, of Division Winemaking Company, founded the Southeast Wine Collective in 2012 in response to their personal interest in creating a unique multi-faceted urban winery, coupled with increasing public interest in the urban wine movement. The pioneering urban winery brings together like-minded wineries who are sustainably growing their businesses by offering a venue for commercial custom crush wine production, tastings and events in the bustling area of SE Portland, and is also home to Oui! Currently 20 varieties of grapes are vinified at the Collective ranging from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc to less common Oregon and US produced varieties such as Gamay Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chenin Blanc, and Nebbiolo. The wine bar and restaurant, Oui!, features pours, flights, glasses and bottles from all 12 Collective members plus an extensive list of global wines that inspire the makers, along with draft beer, wines on tap, 2 Wine Clubs, and a creative and seasonal food menu by chef Althea Grey Potter. Wine bottles and growlers of wine and beer are also available for retail purchase to-go.
