Foxglove/Fourth of July Hours/Burrata & House Stretched Mozzarella

July 3, 2019

Tulip Tree Creamery – Foxglove

Tulip Tree Creamery was established in 2014 by Fons Smits and Laura Davenport. Smits, who is originally from the Netherlands, came to the United States as a dairy consultant and product developer. After spending over ten years helping others establish small dairy plants Smits teamed up with Davenport to begin their own creamery. Today, Smits is the head cheesemaker for Tulip Tree and Davenport is in charge of sales, marketing and education.
The team make beautiful soft-ripened and washed rind cheeses in Indianapolis, Indiana. They source their milk from nearby Lot Hill dairy in Seymour, Indiana.

We currently have Tulip Tree’s Foxglove cheese in stock. Foxglove is a double cream cheese that is washed with Cravens Porter from Indiana’s Thr3e Wiseman Brewing. Added cream makes this cheese extra rich and gooey. As it ages, Foxglove develops a sticky custard-like texture that is perfect for spreading on a baguette. It has a tacky orange rind and stinky aromas, but tastes of fresh cream and meaty broth.

Fourth of July Hours

We will be closing early on Thursday, July 4th so our employees can enjoy the holiday. Our hours will be 11 am to 5 pm so you can stop in for some lunch or grab some cheese for your holiday celebrations. We hope you and your family have a safe and fun Fourth of July!
