DakhaBrakha is a world-renowned quartet from Kyiv, Ukraine whose visually striking live performance features bold, ancient harmonies made modern, vocal and instrumental acrobatics in a genre-bending percussive experience that has been described as “beyond immersive, must be seen to be believed.”
DakhaBrakha’s live-soup styling workshop features the traditional beet soup preparation of borscht, on stage, while infused with Ukrainian live folk music. The audience will be able to sample the soup at the end!
Fanna-Fi-Allah, whose album MURAQABA was produced by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, are multi-decade students of the mystical branch of Islamic devotional music called Sufi Qawwali in the lineage of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. With their rich rhythmic grooves, soaring vocal melodies and the bright intensity of their live performances, Fanna-Fi-Allah urges us to lift our hearts in exaltation and devotion to the Divine.
Fanna-Fi-Allah’s workshop is called “How To Pray The Sufi Way” and will feature members of the band engaging the audience in discussion of Sufism, dervishes, prayer, stories of the great Sufi masters alive today, the history of Qawwali, and how the musical traditions of Pakistan are woven into song.
