January 22, 2020

To celebrate the Grand Opening of its first Oregon location and 36th anniversary, Ezell’s offers $1 fried chicken from 10:30 am to 9 pm on February 4th benefitting Tigard High School PSO

PORTLAND, Ore. (January 22, 2020) – Ezell’s Famous Chicken will open its first Oregon location at Tigard’s Washington Square Too on Tuesday, February 4th. After years of waiting, the Seattle institution brings its Oprah-beloved, made from scratch chicken to the Portland area. Family-owned and operated, Ezell’s was founded in Seattle 36 years ago, serving up chicken, sides and more made fresh from scratch at each location. Started by one sister and two sets of brothers from East Texas, today founders Lewis Rudd, Darnell Rudd and their sister Faye Stephens are still active in day to day operations, joined by an extended family of 300 employees. After waiting six years for initial funding, the family opened their first store on February 3, 1984 in Seattle’s Central District. Since opening, Ezell’s has made many famous friends including Oprah Winfrey and the Seattle Seahawks. Ezell’s now counts 14 fast-casual locations; 13 Seattle-area restaurants, and one in Spokane, Washington. To celebrate their first-ever Oregon restaurant and their 36th anniversary, Ezell’s will offer $1 single piece fried chicken and a fresh-baked roll on February 4th from 10:30 am to 9 pm to benefit Tigard High School PSO teacher grants and student scholarships. The $1 offer is limited to one per person, and must be present to receive.
Ezell’s comes in original, spicy or half & half, tenders or specially cut wings with light and dark meat. Everything on the menu at Ezell’s is made fresh daily at each restaurant, from the chicken and Fresh-Baked rolls, to the homemade sides including Creamy Slaw, Slow-Baked BBQ Beans, Heritage Mac & Cheese, Special-Tees like Golden-Fried Okra and Fresh Gizzards, and home-baked desserts including secret recipe Sweet Potato Pie. Ezell’s has a strong tradition of giving back to the community, and is excited to get to know and become a part of the Oregon community. In honor of their 35th anniversary, Ezell’s Co-Founder Lewis Rudd began the process of creating a foundation to drive even more positive impact in local communities.
“On behalf of the entire Ezell’s Famous Chicken family, we’re honored to have this opportunity to bring Ezell’s to Oregon,” says Ezell’s Co-Founder Lewis Rudd. “We hope to become a part of the community as we’ve been in Seattle for the past 36 years, and can’t wait to open our doors.”
