Estes Chef Patrick McKee and Il Solito Chef Matt Sigler Team Up for Italian Sunday Supper

October 15, 2019

ESTES CHEF PATRICK MCKEE AND IL SOLITO CHEF MATT SIGLER TEAM UP FOR ITALIAN SUNDAY SUPPER
Two chef friends collaborate on family style Italian dinner inspired by the Sundays of their childhoods on Sunday, October 27th
PORTLAND, Ore. (October 15, 2019) – On Sunday, October 27th, Executive Chef Patrick McKee of Estes and Executive Matt Sigler of il Solito team up for a family style Italian Sunday dinner at Dame Collective. The first in a two part dinner series between the two chef friends, the takeover will be hosted from 5:30 to 9pm at Dame Collective. The Sunday supper will be 5-courses, including dessert, served family style, with each chef bringing their unique approach to Italian to the table. There will also be a la carte options available, and optional wine pairings from Dame Collective’s robust natural wine program. Reservations can be made by visiting Resy.
Growing up, Sundays meant gathering together for family-style dinners of lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, polenta and beef tongue, with Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin on the stereo. Both chefs call on their Italian roots in their cooking today, Sicilian for Sigler and Roman for McKee. Chef Matt and Patrick initially bonded over this shared childhood experience, wanting the opportunity to cook from each of their Italian perspectives. “Matt and I have talked a lot about the absence of Sunday dinners – you didn’t miss them growing up in either of our households. Sunday dinners used to bring people together, we want to bring that back, ” says Estes Chef Patrick McKee.

ABOUT IL SOLITO
Spaghetti and meatballs. Shrimp scampi. Chicken marsala. These classic dishes serve as the inspiration for il Solito, Portland’s nod to Italian-American dining. Helmed by Chef Matt Sigler, the menu of red-sauce pastas, seasonal salads and dry-aged meats focuses on flavor and execution, without overcomplicating it. That old-world meets new-world approach flows to the bar program, with a large regional and European wine selection and an ever-growing list of amari that gives an Italian touch to classic cocktails. The restaurant name, which translates to ‘the usual,’ is a reflection of the familiar style of food and service, and the communal experience of Italian dining. Il Solito is open weekdays for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with weekend brunch and dinner service, and happy hour seven days a week. ABOUT ESTES
Estes was born from Italian family roots, seasonality and technique. Chef Patrick McKee is formerly the Executive Chef at Perlot and a 10-year veteran of landmark Portland restaurant, Paley’s Place, where he worked alongside his mentor, James Beard winning Chef Vitaly Paley. Named for his mother, Estes is rooted in straightforward personal cooking. Growing up, Sundays meant gathering together for family-style dinners of lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, polenta and beef tongue, with Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin on the stereo. McKee uses these memories, his mother’s recipes and his Italian heritage as the foundation for the restaurant. Estes is open Wednesday through Saturday 5:30 to 10pm and Sunday 5:30 to 9pm at Dame Collective. For more information, visit https://estespdx.com/ or follow along @estespdx on Instagram.
