Downtown Portland Just Got Moxy

March 5, 2021

Somewhere Between The Bike Lane, The Forest, And The Future.

Moxy Portland Downtown Is Where The Fun Is At – Play On!

For immediate release – Moxy by Marriott opened its vibrant, glowing doors in the heart of downtown Portland, it was announced today. Ready to make a splash in the travel scene, Moxy Portland Downtown embraces local maker culture with a dose of quirky style and outdoor adventure – the perfect destination for the Fun Hunters visiting the Rose City.

Moxy Portland Downtown is located in the vibrant downtown district, bordered by the lavish Pearl and Culture Districts and is just steps away from Downtown Portland’s amazing tax-free shopping. Flaunting their stylish communal spaces and micro-smart rooms, the new Moxy Portland Downtown drips in creativity-fueled workshop-themed decor and outdoor-inspired installations featuring elements that highlight the beauty of the very city it now resides in. The improvised space feels like a work-in-progress where an assemblage of materials from the raw and everyday to the innovative come together in a mash-up of textures, contrast and color. From interactive mirrors in the all gender bathrooms to unique plants and bright climbing rope dangling from the ceilings, Moxy created a space that eliminates what is known as a traditional lobby and welcomes every Fun Hunter* to step in and stay a while. The spirited Welcome Crew* aims to keep things playful by providing each Fun Hunter with a complimentary cocktail or espresso upon check in at Bar Moxy, better known as the heartbeat of the hotel.

Bar Moxy is more than just the new lobby, it is an open and social space where makers and doers are invited to come together and make themselves comfortable. In addition to the bar top decked out in quality spirits and a neon sign that reads “can’t buy me love,” all are encouraged to settle in and take advantage of the ‘Plug and Meet’ gathering areas surrounded by huge garage doors and windows, ready to be opened as soon as the warm weather hits.  With modern seating that serves as a workspace, a lounge to gather around the fireplace with the crew and local eats from the food cart alley with three pods just across the room, Moxy’s numerous gathering corners, tables and couches give a feeling of cool comfort and style. In addition to the cozy corners and social spaces, Moxy plans to take each experience to the next level with weekly lobby activations including fashion shows, movie nights, drag shows, Sip and Craft hours and rumor has it, a pop-up tattoo shop later this year, along with many other surprises. A strong do-it-yourself spirit runs through the space, where fun abounds, and opportunities to make things are around every corner. From the snack bar to the elevator and the bathrooms to the rooms, the hotel has a series of tongue-in-cheek message boards scattered around to keep things spirited and playful.

As all Moxy hotels’ do, Moxy Portland Downtown refuses to take themselves too seriously, but takes showing each Fun Hunter a good time, very seriously. The hotel rises to the occasion 12 floors high with 197 rooms to play in and one Moxy-fied gym. The Moxy gym is fully equipped with weights, numerous exercise machines, a punching bag with hot pink gloves to match, and of course, a Peloton bike. Each bedroom is equipped with 55-inch flat screen televisions with screen casting capabilities, flip down desks, built in USB ports and completely free crazy-fast Wi-Fi. While many hotels design their rooms for long nights in and late mornings, the goal of each Moxy room is to keep the fun times coming. Modern, quirky and small enough for the next-gen traveler, Moxy’s stylish design incorporates stash closets on every floor, filled with all the extra amenities one might need, marvelous city views and innovative artwork into every room, not to mention the possibility of a Moxy Hookup.*

Whether someone is staying at the Moxy to celebrate a special occasion or simply running away from reality for a quick escape, it is the Welcome Crew’s duty to ensure that every person checking in is treated as a friend and taken care of accordingly. This means, the Welcome Crew will decide whether a room deserves to be flocked in celebration, turned into a pillow fort for a pick me up or provided with a special Crosley vinyl player to kick back and relax.

Moxy Portland Downtown is excited to bring affordable and trendy accommodations to the city along with their state-of-the-art gym, pink bikes to ride around town, food cart pods and a well-stocked bar featuring craft cocktails, wines by the glass and local brews. The Moxy Portland Downtown is now open and taking reservations on their website at https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/pdxox-moxy-portland-downtown/
