Don’t miss next month’s Saké Fest PDX

May 29, 2019 by Food Dude

Saké Fest PDX attendees are in for a real treat

PORTLAND, Ore. – May 29, 2019 – More saké will flow than ever before at Saké Fest PDX, taking place on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Oregon Convention Center. With over 180 different samples of saké at this year’s event, the food pairings, offered by 15 local chefs and food purveyors, are practically endless.

When asked what makes the event different from anything else in town, Gabe Rosen of Noraneko and Giraffe, the new small Japanese food and wares shop in Central Southeast Portland, exclaims “Saké Fest PDX is absolutely the event to drink the best saké available in the US in a room full of saké enthusiasts!”

SHO Authentic Restaurant’s Masami Kenyon enjoys the event, saying “it’s a great opportunity to introduce people to our local business. Our staff also like meeting other vendors and learning something great from them.”

“Saké is a very versatile beverage that goes with practically everything. Expect unusual saké from around the globe, some poured by the brewers themselves,” says Saké Samurai and Saké Fest PDX Spokesman Marcus V. Pakiser.

Saké is a drink made from rice that originated in China approximately 5,000 years ago. It came to Japan around the 3rd century AD where it has been constantly enhanced and refined. Saké, as it is known today, originated at the beginning of the 20th century with the advent of modern brewing and bottling techniques.

If anything like their first location it will be the best coffee in the Beaverton/Hillsboro area. Original location is on SW SchollsFerry Road. Even better, it’s next door to Big’s Chicken.
