COOKBOOK EVENTS GALORE THIS WEEKEND AT PASTAWORKS
Pastaworks and Powell’s Books have joined forces to bring you not one, but two great cookbook events this weekend.
On Saturday May 16th, we’ll be hosting the book-signing for “The Picnic: Recipes and Inspiration from Basket to Blanket” by Marnie Hanel, Andrea Slonecker and Jen Stevenson, founding members of The Portland Picnic Society. Accompanying the signing, will be some of our favorite picnic suppliers:
Bee Local/Jacobsen Salt
Ancient Heritage Dairy
Xocolatl de David
All of these beloved Portland purveyors are highlighted in the “The Picnic” and they’ll be on site sampling some of their newest products.
Then on Sunday the 17th we’ll be joined by Chef David Robertson of The Dirty Apron Cooking School & Delicatessen in Vancouver, BC. His newly released cookbook, “The Dirty Apron Cookbook” is a bestseller in Canada, so we’re excited to be having him join us for a cooking demo and book-signing.
At 11a in Nodoguro, David will be making the arugula goat cheese ravioli with brown butter sage sauce that appear on the cover of the cookbook. You won’t want to miss this, so please arrive a bit early, as space will be limited for the event. The cooking demo will be followed by the book-signing at noon.
Note: Please allow 5 to 10 extra minutes to park on Sunday, as Hawthorne Boulevard, from 39th heading West, will be closed on Sunday 8:30 – noon due to the Rock and Roll Half Marathon. We suggest parking East (40th and above) or South (near Lincoln) of Hawthorne.
This week’s tasting: PICNIC WINES
In honor of the release of “The Picnic” we will be pouring a trio of tasty wines perfect for drinking in the sun — a unique sparkling Gamay, a refreshing Txakolina, and a light red from Provence. Stock up, picnic weather is on the way!
Pastaworks and City Market: This Saturday May 16th 2-4p
Next week’s tasting: WINE + BBQ
Yes, Memorial Day weekend is just a week away — what wine and beer will you be drinking? Let us help you decide with some BBQ and camping friendly options.
