The Beaverton Farmers Market Is Hiring!

We are looking for just the right person to be the market bookkeeper.

The bookkeeper role is 20-25 hours a week, including working at the Market on Saturdays. This is an in-person job but the weekday schedule is very flexible. The Market office is located in SW Portland on Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy near Alpenrose Dairy.

The market is open from Feb-Nov, and closed during Dec & Jan, which means the hours for this position are reduced dramatically during Dec & Jan. (Closer to 5-10 hours a week in the off season)

**Proof of vaccination is required**


Bookkeeper responsibilities:

  • General accounting, including but not limited to preparing token reimbursement checks, market bill paying, coding/entering market expenditures and income, preparing weekly deposits, journal entries, preparing summer invoices, reconciling token & merchandise sales & market bank accounts.
  • Review & analysis of market staff weekly time sheets, maintain full year staff time sheets
  • Submit semi-monthly payroll, coordinating w/ 3rd party payroll company
  • Maintaining all market files, including employee/payroll files and market vendor licensing
  • Regular communication with Market Manager & Board Treasurer, preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements as requested
  • Assist Market Manager & Board Treasurer with the annual budget
  • Attend farmers market on Saturdays, set up/tear down Market Information Booth, sell tokens & merchandise to customers, communicate with market vendors regarding licensing & payments

Requirements:

  • Loves farmers markets! Thinks spending Saturdays working at a farmers market sounds like a perfect day
  • 3-5 years Full Charge Bookkeeping experience
  • Proficient in Quickbooks Online (2 years minimum experience)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, familiarity with Google Drive
  • Thrives in a collaborative, team player environment
  • Ability to do physical aspects of job, which include lifting and setting up canopies & other equipment (with help as needed)
  • Skilled multi-tasker, ability to work in an environment with distractions
  • Able to complete tasks accurately and timely with minimal supervision
  • Proven reliability and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Background/Credit check required
  • Proof of vaccination required

Not required but would be nice:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s in Accounting
  • Experience preparing 1099s/1096s
  • Experience filing property taxes
  • Experience working with non-profits a plus

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation: $20 to start, with annual raises
  • Paid sick leave earned per OR state laws
