Chesa launches a new chapter with globally inspired, festive events throughout the summer and fall
PORTLAND, Ore. (July 21, 2017) – Chef José Chesa, the two time James Beard award semifinalist for Best Chef Northwest, and his business partners, his wife, Cristina Baéz and Emily Metivier celebrate summer with a variety of festive, globally inspired community events at Chesa. The brand new special events venue will play host to Paella Sundays, Puerto Rican Barrio Block Parties, and Chef Dinner Series all inspired by chef Chesa and Cristina Baéz’s own global roots, as well as the incredibly supportive Portland community. Party on the Chesa patio with the best paellas in town from Barcelona native, chef José Chesa. This July, Chesa will launch Paella Sundays, modeled after the Barcelona version of the Sunday BBQ spent with good food, family and friends. Enjoy rotating paellas prepared on a Josper charcoal grill while sipping sangria and listening to some great Spanish tunes. Hosted on the Chesa patio, Paella Sundays is leisurely, family friendly party that will include a salad and two paellas, a meat and vegetarian option, and a cocktail. Enjoy the Oregon summer perfection with a little taste of Barcelona, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, on the 2nd and last Sunday of each month. Tickets are $50 per person, kids eat free, and dogs are welcome on the patio.
Chesa will also host Patria Presents: Barrio Block Party, an authentic Puerto Rican block party complete with a domino tournament featuring prizes for the winners, vinyl salsa music, and of course food, all inspired by the family friendly community happenings in Cristina Baéz’s native Puerto Rico. Enjoy a a little piece of the Caribbean here in Portland, with Cristina Baéz and chef friend Abel Mendoza joining forces to cook Puerto Rican dishes including Arroz Blanco (white rice), Habichuelas Guisadas (bean stew), Pernil (oven roasted pork shoulder), Pollo Asado (roasted chicken), Amarillos (fried ripe plantains), and Aguacates (avocados). There will be a cash bar with pina coladas, beer and fruit punch. Patria Presents: Barrio Block Party will be $50 per person in advance, $15 for kids.
