Introducing our new wine curator Phaedra Brucato
We are beyond excited to introduce an important new member of our small DOC family. As the new wine curator at DOC, Phaedra Brucato is developing an Italian focused list that treasures unique and rare wines from vintners who understand the importance of natural practices in winemaking.
Through these wines and their unique pairings alongside the flavors of DOC, she strives to tell a vivid story – one that brings diners to a transcendent experience beyond the walls of the restaurant.
MORE ABOUT PHAEDRA
Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Phaedra has vivid memories of her mother “baptizing” her by bumping her off a riverboat into the rush of freezing cold water. She’s always been interested in the connections between deep memory, taste, and satisfaction, and it shows in her evocative use of wine pairings to bring out memories and cultural touchpoints.
After graduating from Tufts University in Boston, Phaedra cut her chops working in some of the city’s finest restaurants. During these years, she developed a strong appreciation for the multi-disciplinary knowledge required of Sommeliers and their ability to transform a dining experience into an unforgettable journey.
More recently, Phaedra spent 3 years leading the wine and beverage program at the renowned Willows Inn on Lummi Island, where she became fluent in the creative language of food and beverage pairings. During that time, she also spent time working harvest in the Willamette Valley, further expanding her understanding and appreciation for all facets of wine production.
