Luckily, National Frozen Custard Day is coming up on Monday, August 8th, and Vancouver’s locavore pizzaria Rally Pizza is going all out this year by offering half-off their full dessert menu of delicious frozen custard treats, plus All Day Happy Hour!
In case you aren’t familiar, frozen custard has a high percentage of butterfat, creating a thick, creamy, decadent texture smoother than ice cream. Shan Wickham, co-owner and pastry chef of Rally Pizza, uses her homemade vanilla bean frozen custard as the base for her incredible desserts.
Rally Pizza offers Frozen Custard in a variety of delicious forms, including:
Sundaes with creative homemade toppings, like The Campfire with graham cookie crumbles, chocolate fudge sauce, and gooey smoked marshmallow, or the Bumbleberry with blackberry sauce, honeycomb crunch, smoked wildflower honey, or Balanced Breakfast with peanut butter-milk chocolate cornflake crunch and sea salt caramel, and crunchy chocolate pearls.
Frozen Custard Concretes, a midwest favorite, similar to like a blended DQ blizzard but with all house baked goods, in flavors like Cherry Pie, Devil’s Food Cake, and Lemon Snap.
Shakes hand-spun with housemade syrups & sauces such as blackberry, chocolate, mint, and butterscotch
Floats with ginger beer or root beer
Affogato with Water Ave. Coffee cold brew poured over frozen custard
- Boozy Shakes and Floats – Grown-up desserts hand-spun with spirits and our house made sauces, served with whipped cream and a cherry. Like the Forest Road with Amaretto, chocolate fudge sauce, and smoked marshmallow or the Landslide with Irish Cream, New Deal Coffee Liqueur, coffee syrup.
Rally Pizza also offers their All-Day Happy Hour every Monday (open 3pm-8pm) with great food and drink specials, so there’s no better time to check out Rally Pizza’s menu of seasonal neapolitan style pizzas and vibrant farm-fresh salads and fun side dishes.
