Cannonau, Music and Spooky Brews at Portland Bottle Shop!
The Weekly What’s Up!
Hope everyone is having a great week. We are super excited for tonight, as we are hosting our first live music here since 2019! We are very pleased to welcome Kyle Chaney to the Bottle Shop. Kyle is not only one of our favorite wine personalities, he also writes and plays all his own music. This is truly going to be a treat. He will be here from 7 – 8:30 pm this evening, so be sure to come grab a beverage and some grub as we welcome back live music to the Bottle Shop.
Spooky Brews for the Weekend
When it comes to interesting labels, the craft beer industry has got it dialed in. They are constantly pushing the limits, sometimes to a fault. However, others are spot on, not only with their labels, but also with their beers. Wayfinder makes some of the best pilsners we carry and the Terrifica Italian Style is a great example. This dry hopped pils is so tasty and a great grab for the holiday weekend. Block 15…well, what can I say, they make amazing beers typically on the hoppy side and the Story of the Ghost is just that. It’s piney and floral and exactly what you expect from Block 15, deliciously hoppy beer. Two great beers for your spooky weekend. Be safe out there and stay scary.
Contini “Tonaghe” Cannonau di Sardegna
Contini has been making wines in Sardinia for over 4 generations. This organically produced Cannonau is fermented in stainless steel, allowing the fruit to really shine. It is clean with black raspberry notes and a streak of minerality. There is a bit of spice on the mid palate and it has a nice, dry finish. Not only is this wine delicious, the folks behind the Blue Zones believe Cannonau may contribute to why folks in the region live so long. I don’t know if this grape contributes to longevity, but who am I to argue? Cheers!
