Carioca Bowls Tops All of Summer’s Best Moments With Unlimited Toppings

The ideal summertime food, handcrafted açaí bowls are offered with unlimited toppings through August

PORTLAND, Ore. — July 6, 2021 — Carioca Bowls, Portland’s leading açaí cafe, is inviting the entire community to enjoy unlimited toppings this summer with its #WeCanTopThat campaign. Through September 1st, 2021, guests can enjoy as many different toppings as they please with the purchase of any açaí bowl at either of the Portland cafes. Carioca Bowls is located at 827 NE Alberta Street and at 1645 NW 21st Avenue.

“We’re positive that our açaí bowls will make memorable moments, so we’re challenging Portland this summer with this campaign,” explained Carioca Bowls co-owner Richard Matusow. “Climb Mount Hood before breakfast? Chant louder than the whole Timbers Army? Control rainfall with your mind? All impressive moments, but we can top that with our unlimited toppings!”

With more than 25 toppings to choose from, Carioca Bowls allow guests to create literally millions of combinations to satisfy all kinds of cravings. And every bowl is both gluten-free and vegan.

“We are so jazzed to see the combinations that people come up with when they have the choice of unlimited toppings,” continued Matusow. “The combo possibilities are nearly endless, so there’s truly an açaí bowl for every taste! ”

Every handcrafted bowl begins with a custom, smoothie-like açaí blend, and comes with sliced banana and gluten free granola. Then it’s loaded with each guest’s choice of toppings and add-ons. The topping choices, which are $1 each outside of this promotional period, include fresh berries, kiwi, banana and apple, dried fruits like cranberries, figs, dates and cherries, honey, peanut butter, toasted coconut, cacao nibs, chocolate sauce and other selections.

Even more delicious add-ons can be included for an additional charge, like Honey Mama’s Cocoa Truffle Bar pieces, JEM Organic nut butters, bee pollen, CBD oil, and assorted nuts and seeds.

As a whole-food, plant-based meal, açaí bowls provide hours of nutritious fuel. The low sugar content keeps energy levels consistent throughout the day. Açaí berries have three times the antioxidants of blueberries, and are rich in fiber, amino acids and minerals.

“When it’s hot out, everyone’s looking for meals to help cool down,” explained Carioca Bowls co-owner Matthew Lau. “Our açaí bowls are a complete meal—energizing, refreshing, and super-nourishing. They’re simply the perfect meal, and vegan, too!”

Carioca Bowls’ two Portland cafes also offer a warm, hearty and vegan Brazilian-inspired stew called the Samba Bowl, and homemade Pão de Queijo, Brazilian cheese breads that come in vegan and vegetarian varieties in addition to an assortment of açaí bowl blends, cold beverages and other snacks. Each bright, cheery cafe has an inviting outdoor dining area as well as welcoming indoor seating. Takeout and online ordering are welcome, and on-site catering is also available.

ABOUT CARIOCA BOWLS

Carioca Bowls co-owners Matusow and Matthew Lau met while working at Sambazon, the world’s premier açaí supplier. The two started Carioca Bowls in 2015 with the mission of raising the bar with unique açaí blends and complementary Brazilian specialities. They opened their first cafe on Alberta Street in 2015, offering the quintessential açaí sensory experience: warm, vivid colors, world music, and delicious Brazililan specialties served in an inspired tropical setting. They followed with a second location in the fall of 2019 in the Slabtown neighborhood. Both locations offer “build your own” açaí bowls with a choice of base blend and more than 30 toppings and add-ons. The cafes also serve vegan-inspired feijoada, Pão de Queijo, avocado toast, and a variety of inspired hot and cold beverages.
