Blue Star Donuts opens new HQ in Goose Hollow!

November 5, 2021

Free donut giveaway Sunday November 7th beginning at 11am, 1701 SW Jefferson St.

Portland, Ore. (November 4, 2021) – Portland’s beloved gourmet donut shop is set to open their new headquarters in Portland’s Goose Hollow neighborhood, mere blocks away from Providence Park and Lincoln High School. In addition to the new retail space, the building serves as the hub for all of Blue Star’s donut production, as well as their successful new eCommerce and Wholesale lines, which were born out of the multiple pivots manifested in April 2020 as the COVID-19 Pandemic ravaged the entire restaurant industry. The building was formerly the home of the Oregon Culinary Institute, which closed during the Pandemic.

The shop will have a soft-opening this Friday and Saturday, and Blue Star will continue their tradition by truly kicking things off with a grand opening donut giveaway on Sunday, November 7th. Fans can stop by the new location at 1701 SW Jefferson St. for one free donut per person starting at 11am until the last Blueberry Bourbon Basil and Raspberry Rosemary Buttermilk have been devoured.

“We’re beyond excited to open our new home!” says Katie Poppe, Co-Founder and CEO. “The past year and a half have been utterly devastating to the industry in so many ways, and to be honest a year ago this would have been unimaginable. We are deeply grateful to our community for the unwavering support. This is for you.”  Adds Poppe, “It’s also a little bittersweet, as we were so saddened by the closure of OCI and its influence on the culinary community in Oregon. We have a lot of exciting plans on how to carry the torch and honor this legacy.”

The new shop will be open to the public Thursdays through Mondays from 7am to 2pm. This location will also feature an expanded drink menu, including espresso as well as beer and wine pairings.

ABOUT BLUE STAR DONUTS

Blue Star Donuts is a gourmet donut shop born in Portland, Oregon. After a much-anticipated opening in 2012, the Portland-grown bakers expanded to eight locations in the Portland area. Four Portland locations have since been permanently closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The unique brioche-based donuts and signature cake donut recipes quickly became a foodie favorite, recognized as the best in Portland and the United States by Conde Nast, The Washington Post, and USA Today. Their gourmet gems have gained international attention on the Food Network, and were also featured on the cover of Bon Appetit Magazine. Executive Pastry Chef Stephanie Thornton was recently featured as a contestant on Chopped, and Co-Founder and CEO Katie Poppe is a recipient of the Portland Business Journal’s “40 under 40” award and “Oregon’s Most Admired Companies”, and is also a PNW regional finalist for Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” award.
