Ben & Andy’s Wine Pairings
Add a bottle (or two) of handpicked wines from our wine team to your Bird Box meal.

Arbois (Savagnin), Florent Rouve, ‘18, Jura
Arbois is the most important appellation in the Jura, which is a tiny alpine region located between Burgundy and Switzerland. Savagnin is an ancient grape and because of its age it has developed a lot of clonal diversity and offspring. It is a parent grape of Gruner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc, Silvaner and Trousseau. This wine is sourced from east facing vineyards, the vines are 35 years old. The soils are typical to the region and are a unique blue/grey marl. Farming is organic but not certified, only copper and sulfur are used in the vineyards. This wine bursts from the glass with aromas of bruised apples, pear and beeswax. It is medium bodied and has lush texture that is balanced by prominent acidity.

Mondeuse, Quintessence, Domaine des Orchis, ’17, Savoie
Mondeuse is one of the oldest grapes in the Savoie but in the year 2000 there was only 200 hectares remaining as much of the region was replanted to Gamay in the post phylloxera era. Plantings have grown since then and it looks like the grape is here to stay. The soils in the area are a mix of limestone, clay, and glacial debris. The Domaine ages this Mondeuse in barrell for a full 18 months after fermentation which helps soften the tannins and round the texture.  This wine smells of plums, red cherries and sweet herbs (maybe even a little fennel) it is bright but also has plenty of grippy tannins.

Ordering Opens Sunday At Noon!
