Andy’s Wine Pairings Add a bottle (or two) of handpicked wines from our wine director to your Bird Box meal. Did you know Canard is up for a James Beard award this year for Outstanding Wine Program?
Riesling, Deidesheimer Paradiesgartern 1er Lage, Von Winning 2018 $35 The Von Winning estate is producing some of the most compelling DRY Riesling in all of Germany. They are aided by the warmer climate of the Phalz region which they call home. The sandy loam soils of the “Paradise Garden” vineyard are planted to organically grow Riesling above the village of Deidesheim. Although it is bone dry, this Riesling is bursting with fruits that range from lemon to grapefruit to kiwi, which are balanced by aromas of white pepper, ginger and chamomile!
Brouilly, Croix des Rameaux, Jeane-Claude Lapalu, 2017, Beaujolais $52 Although Jean-Claude’s family had a long history of growing grapes in the Brouilly area, the family had always sold their fruit to the local co-op. His curious drive led him to begin vinifying and bottling his own wine when he took over the Domaine in 1995. He believes in the supremacy of quality fruit and low-intervention winemaking. What stands out about the Lapalu wines is the unique terroir from which they come. Brouilly is the farthest south of the Beaujolais Cru villages, it is warmer and this particular vineyard parcel has excellent sun exposure. This wine shows the darker side of the Gamay grape with notes of cassis, black cherries, licorice, and spice.
All of the meals will include 3-courses, a fancy salad for assembling at home, a protein with sides packed ready for re-heating, and dessert. Each box is designed to be heated at home and will generously feed two humans.
Dishes will vary each week.
All boxes are nut free, but we are unable to accommodate any further dietary restrictions or modifications at this time.
Le Pigeon will be following strict safety procedures, and will offer curbside pickup or will bring the meal to your car.
