Baker&Spice + African Road – A Better World Through Baking
International Women’s Day matters more than ever to all of us at Baker & Spice. We are a local woman-owned business; our staff is 75% female (and 100% amazing) so we know first hand that when you invest in women you invest in community and a better world.
On March 8th we’ll join forces with African Road and The Togetherness Orphan Cooperative to help a group of 20 women and girls in Rwanda start a Women’s Bakery of their own.
We’ll bake up mixed boxes of globally inspired sweets, think: Israeli Hamantashen, Syrian Mamoul, Swedish Kringlor and the all-American Chocolate Brownie along with other delicacies. The best part? 100% of every box will directly benefit The Women’s Bakery fund.
We’ll also hold a very SWEET raffle leading up to March 8th. Beginning February 28, for every $25 dollars spent at the The Cakery or The Bakery, customers will receive a free raffle ticket and Baker & Spice will donate $1 to African Road. Additional tickets can be purchased for $1 each at the bakery. Winners will be announced March 8th. Prizes include:
1. A Year of Cake: You can treat everyone to their favorite birthday cake! Win Twelve 6’’ classic cake from our cakery once a month for a whole year! Now that is the Icing on the cake!
2. A Summer of Pie: From Rhubarb (May) to Apple (October), a seasonal fruit pie every month for six months.
3. A Baker & Spice Swag Bag full of gift certificates, t-shirts and treats!
Our goal is to raise $5000 and we appreciate your support as we do what we can to help other women in the world help themselves and others.
