Beaverton Farmers Market Community News and Mother’s Day Picks
To Our Market Community,
This weekend is all about honoring Mothers here at the Beaverton Farmers Market. We know that taking Mom to brunch will be difficult during this pandemic so we have a great suggestion for making a delicious Mother’s Day meal in your own home kitchen.
We would like to introduce you to a new vendor this season – Lindsay’s Sourdough! Lindsay specializes in delicious sourdough pancake and waffle batter. This batter is seriously easy to use as there is no measuring or mixing required. You literally pour it from the jar onto a griddle or waffle iron for the fluffiest pancakes and waffles you can imagine.
Lindsay carries the following batter types:
1. Original (Oregon Trail and San Fran)
3. Power batter (high protein) – with original and vegan batter
5. Gluten-free vegan
6. Whole wheat
If you are thinking about purchasing special Mother’s Day pastries from one of our fabulous bakeries, we suggest you consider ordering in advance.
Henry Higgins Boiled Bagels – please note that Henry Higgins has a new location in the market next to the Pony Espresso truck. hhboiledbagels.com
The Beaverton Farmers Market
We will see you all this Saturday at the Market, from 9AM-1:30PM!
Happenings In the City of Beaverton
It takes a village to bring the Beaverton Farmers Market to life every week. We are extremely fortunate to have amazing support from the City of Beaverton as well as the surrounding community. We would like to take this opportunity to give a shout out to all of the folks who work in City Operations. They take care of the park and parking lot, help us with electrical problems, hang our banners and are generally responsible for the beautiful setting you see every week when you come to the market.
Several Saturdays ago, we had a team of volunteers from the downtown U.S. Bank scour the neighborhood around the Market picking up trash in honor of April being National Volunteer Month. We are grateful to bank president, Diana Fritz, and her team for their commitment to community service and to making our neighborhood a wonderful place to live and work.
Speaking of community service, the City of Beaverton needs your help to design a better Loop!
The Loop is a key initiative to enhance walking, biking and transit on SW Hall Blvd and SW Watson Ave. in downtown Beaverton. It seeks to establish a strong connection between Old Town and Beaverton Central (City Hall) by reimagining how the streets and sidewalks are used and how they look.
Take part in the Community Mapping activity from May 1-May 17.
“Pump up your bike tires or put on your favorite walking shoes and tour the Loop. We’ve marked four spots along the way with signs for how to share your experiences – use your smart phone to take short surveys at each stop and share what you love about the Loop on social media, then enter to win one of four $25 gift cards for a meal downtown.”
Many of you have asked us about the Library Fountain project so we thought we’d share the most recent update with you.
