Battle Creek Cellars Opens Pearl District Tasting Room

November 4, 2019

BATTLE CREEK CELLARS BRINGS OREGON WINE COUNTRY TO PORTLAND’S PEARL DISTRICT

Opens first tasting room off NW 13th Ave. and Johnson St., fall 2019

Portland, Oregon – Oregon winery Battle Creek Cellars will debut its tasting room in Portland’s trendy Pearl District neighborhood in early November 2019. The 2,000-square-foot tasting room, the first-ever for the winery, is opening at 820 NW 13th Ave., and will feature daily tastings, exclusive wine selections and an assortment of light food options for guests to enjoy.

Distinctively Oregon themed, the Battle Creek Cellars tasting room will offer a casual, social environment for locals and visitors alike to experience wine country without leaving the city. With indoor and outdoor seating, the tasting room will showcase a regular calendar of events, a wine club with exclusive membership benefits and a sampling of limited-release wines.

Crafted by winemaker Sarah Cabot, the Battle Creek Cellars portfolio embodies the pioneering spirit and unconventional sensibility that make Oregon unique. Like her wines, Cabot brings a bold and authentic personality to Battle Creek Cellars, combined with a passion for Pinot Noir, deep viticultural knowledge and genuine love of the region. When she’s not making wine or working with her team in the vineyards, Cabot plans to work hand in hand with the team at the tasting room to bring an authentic experience to consumers.

“I’m excited to bring Oregon wine country to the city and for Battle Creek Cellars to finally open our doors to the public,” said Cabot. “This space is going to be more than just a wine tasting room…it’s going to be a place where people can unwind after work, meet up with friends before dinner, and maybe even watch a big game on the projector screen. Pinot Noir is our foundation, but we’ll have some really different limited-run wines that are exclusively available at the tasting room for people to experience.”

“We think the Battle Creek Cellars tasting room will be a welcome addition to an area of Portland where people work and live, but have few tasting room options,” added Lisa Clarkson, senior vice president of retail operations and direct-to-consumer sales for parent company Precept Wine. “We’re in great company, with other successful businesses and restaurants in the neighborhood. Our tasting room will feature unique art, including an installation highlighting the different vineyard soils; tasting room exclusive wine offerings; locally sourced merchandise; meeting and entertaining space; and regular events. And with a wide selection of portfolio wines – from our Battle Creek Reserve, which blends fine fruit from Willamette Valley estate vineyards, to our single-vineyard selections – we have wines for any occasion, palate and price point.”

Since 1998, Battle Creek Cellars has produced exceptional Pinot Noir from the famed Willamette Valley AVA. Battle Creek wines are made in Dundee, with fruit sourced from high-quality vineyards, including estate vineyards Battle Creek, Roe and Yamhela.

Battle Creek Cellars’ portfolio wines featured regularly at the tasting room include:
