The Basque Supper Club is pleased to announce that it will be launching its pop-up restaurant concept beginning April 10th , 2015. Chefs Javier Canteras and Ryan Spragg, currently of the soon to open Bocadillo, will head the kitchen in this secret and intimate dining experience.
The menu will reflect Chef Javier’s travels to the Basque country in northern Spain, both as a child and in recent years, and result in his interpretation of primitive Basque cuisine using modern techniques. Combing old and new, the chefs we will be offering six courses along with three Spanish wine pairings from Southern Wines on their April menu. Two seatings of twelve people will be available at 6PM or 8:30PM nightly, at a reasonably price $65 per person. The location and password to enter the event will be provided after the purchase of a ticket to ensure the ultimate secrecy. Tickets for April’s dinner go on sale March 9th.
The Basque Supper Club is inspired by the celebrated txokos in the Basque country of northern Spain. A txoko (Basque pronunciation: [choko) is typically a Basque type of closed gastronomical society. Traditionally they are made up of members who come together to cook, experiment with new ways of cooking, eat and socialize. Javier’s grandfather, Juan, would take him on walks in the mornings where they would stop by Juan’s txoco, and would have some of the most delicious dishes they had ever eaten.
