Anglo Indian vegan pop up

November 8, 2019

With a bold new wave of pop-ups the scope, inventiveness and sheer amount of talent on display feels a lot like the birth of Portland’s food-cart scene.
And with those winds of change blowing right now, the aroma is distinctly spicy…
Inspired by the vibrant cuisine of India, Chef George brings soulful, seasonal cooking to Portland with his brick & mortar pop up, YES PLEASE. Born in London, trained at OCI, with stints at Bollywood Theater and Tasty & Alder, 24 year-old Chef George shares his passion for good gluten-free eats by applying modern techniques to the flavors and dishes from a childhood spent traveling the globe. It is been a long time coming to Portland’s Pop Ups. The YES PLEASE menu features crave-worthy Indian cuisine highlighting the Chef’s inspired interpretations of authentic recipes along with an Anglo twist, all sourced from local producers: menu items include curried dal (moong and chana dal pulsed with organic Ahara Rasa niter kibbeh, garlic and peppers) and bangers and mash (staple pub supper made with Scratch Meats local pork sausage and cheesy mash, served with coconut curry gravy)
“At Yes Please, I want people to enjoy affordable seasonal dishes rooted in tradition, blended with the global influences of my life’s journey” says the effervescent George.
