Pix-O-Matic is the 24 hour contactless vending machine of Pix desserts, macarons, conservas from Bar Vivant and other random stuff to make you smile (because who couldn’t use a smile these days?) From time to time we feature a pop-up in the Pix-O-Matic. Restaurants or producers of local craft products will take over sections of the Pix-O-Matic to sell their goods for a period of 3 to 7 days. Here’s what’s coming up…
July 1 – 6 Orange Cap Ginger Beer (July 3rd Pop-up Cocktail Tasting)
Orange Cap is a new refreshing non-alcoholic* sparkling beverage full of BIG GINGER and citrus flavor with just enough sweetness to balance the acidity and is produced right here in Portland, Oregon. Orange Cap has four ingredients – cold pressed ginger root, citrus juice, cane sugar and Bull Run water.
Enjoy Orange Cap as a thirst quenching beverage alone or add an additional wow factor to your favorite cocktails like the Moscow Mule, Whiskey Ginger Bucks, Dark ‘n Stormy or in our Rose City Ginger Fizz. A recipe for the Rose City Ginger Fizz will be in the Pix-O-Matic featuring OC Ginger Beer with cocktail ingredients for two Rose City Gin Fizzes except the booze (you gotta get that yourself but we like Aria Gin, Bull Run Whiskey and Medoyeff Vodka!)
PLUS, Friday July 3rd from 6 – 8pm Orange Cap owner Tobias Hogan will be at the Pix-O-Matic with a pop-up cocktail tasting. Have a little nip while you’re out picking up supplies for your backyard July 4th party! July 16 – 18 Meals for Heels
Meals for Heels is a late-night meal delivery service catering to Portland’s sex worker community. With strip clubs closed due to Covid, owner Nikeisah C. Newton, who’s black and lesbian, has been using her time to feed the frontline workers and protestors, and to raise funds for black, LGBTQ and woman owned businesses. She is offering up two tasty and healthy dishes in the Pix-O-Matic:
GTP (GETTIN’ THAT PAPER) – Tom kha roasted cauliflower, sweet potato noodles, pickled cucumbers, truffled tomatoes, mint, Thai basil, cilantro, honey saambal sauce, toasted coconut & veggie furikake. $15
Freegan Vegan – Oven roasted yams, plantains sweet potatoes & apples, sautéed mushrooms, “green” brown rice, topped w/salsa lizano (no heat, hella savory) crispy quinoa, & sweet-n-salty spiced almonds & walnuts. $15
July 23 – 28 Urban Cheese Craft
Urban Cheesecraft is a Portland-based company run by cheesemaker and author, Claudia Lucero. Lucero teaches total beginners to make cheese through her DIY Kits, classes and books. The kits featured in the Pix-O-Matic are Burrata + Mascarpone, Paneer + Queso Blanco and the Mini Kit for Farmer’s Cheese – a perfect kit to try with kids. All of the kits just require milk and less than an hour!

July 31 – August 6 Tân Tân
Proudly immigrant/refugee/women-owned, the Tân Tân family has been sharing delicious Vietnamese food from their restaurant, Tân Tân Cafe, in Beaverton for over 20 years. Recently, they launched a line of their most popular sauces for the home cook: Mom’s Hot Chili Sauce, Vietnamese Hoisin Sauce, Vietnamese Peanut Sauce and Sweet “Fish” Sauce, which are the only Vegan-certified and Gluten-Free certified Vietnamese sauces on the market. Tân Tân means New Beginnings and the Tân Tân family is excited that you’ll be joining them on a flavor journey!
The Tân Tân family has graciously offered to donate all sales of Tân Tân sauces in the Pix-O-Matic to the Urban League of Portland. All are sauces are certified vegan and certified gluten-free.

August 13 – 16 Bar Vivant
August is usually Flamenco Friday time at Bar Vivant, our sister tapas bar, where the patio is flooded with onlookers shouting “olé!”, the sherry bar is well stocked and the energy from the performers on the stage is extraordinary. So, we are bringing back the tapas and flamenco for 3 days in vending machine formation. All of your favorite Bar Vivant tapas will be available for purchase (montaditos, pulpo, tortilla and more) alongside a soundtrack of flamenco that you can enjoy while you peruse the Pix-O-Matic.
August 25 – 31 Petite Pâtisserie Book Release
Tiny petits fours, bon bons, macarons and other whimsical bite-sized treats will take over the Pix-O-Matic for the debut of Pix owner, Cheryl Wakerhauser’s, new book titled Petite Pâtisserie. Literally translated to “little ovens,” French petits fours are small pastries that can be eaten in two to three bites. Petite Pâtisserie skips the commonplace, white fondant covered cake squares and, instead, introduces you to petit pastry in a new, exciting array of flavors, shapes, textures and colors.
In addition to composed, multi-dimensional petits fours, Cheryl also shares a striking sweet and savory menu for high tea, bon bons that make you rethink the classic truffle, dessert shooters in mini glassware and her take on cookies (think macarons so tiny you can pop them into your mouth like M&Ms). Also discover a caramel mousse with salted almonds wrapped in a thin layer of chocolate that will make you say, “Shazam!”, an adult dessert version of the Old Fashioned in ice cream shake formation and a coconut mousse dessert in the form of, what else, a mini coconut! Playful recipes backed by solid instruction and creative execution.
