Adelsheim Vineyard Partners with Portland Trail Blazers to Produce Limited Edition Wine

February 7, 2019

Two iconic brands come together to bring a uniquely Oregon experience to fans

NEWBERG, Ore. (Feb. 6, 2019) – Adelsheim Vineyard, one of the Willamette Valley’s founding wineries and the Chehalem Mountains’ first winery, has announced a partnership with the Portland Trail Blazers to celebrate the franchise’s 50-year anniversary.

Since the ‘70s, Adelsheim and the Portland Trail Blazers have been bold pioneers in the Pacific Northwest – each in their own right. Adelsheim is honored to bring a uniquely Oregon experience to Trail Blazers fans through two commemorative, limited edition wines. The wines will be officially released on Sept. 24.

“Making this wine was such an honor for our whole team,” said Gina Hennen, winemaker for Adelsheim. “As a Blazers fan, to be able to team up with the Blazers to create this special, limited edition wine to commemorate the team’s 50th anniversary has been a dream come true. I think fans will love it as much as we do.”

This unique partnership blends wine and athletics in a way that truly represents the integrated spirit of Oregon. When Joth Ricci, then president and CEO of Adelsheim Vineyard, and Chris McGowan, president and CEO of the Portland Trail Blazers, first started discussing the partnership more than two years ago, it was clear that the organizations had a lot in common.

“When we came up with the idea of a commemorative wine to share with our fans to celebrate our 50th anniversary, we looked no further than Adelsheim,” says McGowan. “Our shared commitment and passion for Oregon made them a perfect fit.”

The wine offerings will include a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which were created especially for the fans to commemorate the rich 50-year history of their beloved team. Both are LIVE certified sustainable wines. The wines will be pre-released in August to Club Adelsheim members and Trail Blazers season ticket holders and will be available for purchase at adelsheim.com and by-the-glass at Local Cork in the Rose Quarter on September 24. Additional details including label design, tasting notes and pricing will be announced later this year. For more information, please visit Adelsheim.com/Blazers.
