A letter from Josh

March 16, 2020

Dear Friends,

Let me start by saying thank you for your amazing support these past 4 years. I’m eternally grateful for all of the knowledge, passion and nourishment that you provide.

Late last night, as I went for a walk through eerily empty and lonely streets, I took time to reflect. I’ve been hearing from many of you: customers, farmers, staff, eaters. Shocked, supportive, vigilant, frightened, anxious, and hopeful. As we keep apart from each other, it’s easy to vent our fear, stress and anxiety on the people we love, care about and do business with. During this time of uncertainty and turmoil, first and foremost let’s be good to each other and to ourselves.

One way to be kind to ourselves and our community is to sustain our mental and physical health. For many of us that includes cooking with, feeding our families with, and finding joy in good vegetables and fruit.

I can help you with that.

Starting this week, I am relaunching my Discovery Box.

There are 2 sizes for you to choose from.  Your box will be filled with wonderful fresh produce, much from local organic farms.  We created these boxes to have a variety of flavors that can work together. Boxes are here for you to either pick up in-store or we’ll provide curbside service until 6:30 pm, so you can maintain a safe distance.

We have also posted a current product list, and are updating our instagram to reflect almost everything we have available.  We will try to accommodate special requests, but please have patience – we too are overwhelmed.

Please join me in trying to keep our farms in business. They are the backbone of our food system. Whether you shop small and local with us, at the farmer’s markets, at local co-ops or through a farm-direct CSA, your support for small farms now will mean those farms will still be there tomorrow.

Please also note that starting today, Providore is temporarily adjusting our store hours to 10am – 6pm, to accommodate increased cleaning and to protect the safety and health of our staff, customers and the community.

Just like you, keeping my family safe and healthy means more to me than anything in the world.  We at Rubinette, along with all the team at Providore, have taken bold measures to ensure the health of everyone.  We have been vigilant in both hygiene and cleaning and are asking anyone with cold/flu symptoms to stay home. You will now find hand sanitizing stations at both entrances. Please use them.

I, the Rubinette Produce staff and everyone at Providore appreciate your patience, kindness, and compassion as we navigate these unpredictable times together. We promise to do our best to keep you healthy and informed!

With care,
Josh
