The anticipated launch of cosmopolitan trattoria, Il Terrazzo nestled in the Riverplace Esplanade on the Willamette River’s Industrial Rivera & Riverplace Marina is happening!
Overlooking the Marina, views of Mt. Hood to the east & a peek into the Industrial district of East Portland, diners will enjoy multiple concepts & an inside look to where the past & present meet.
Portland, Oregon 4/26/2017 – The official grand opening is scheduled for Monday, May 1st, 2017 & will launch the first season of the menu at Il Terrazzo. As a concept, Northwest rising star Michael Krikorian & Chef de Cuisine Edmundo Bracamontes are building on foundational bistro & trattoria recipes blending international with local ingredients. Il Terrazzo honors simplicity & history in its recipes with an Italian attention to ingredient & French approach to bistro plating.
Chef de Cuisine Bracamontes earned an international culinary arts degree from Le Cordon Bleu driven from a passion for food ignited in childhood. In his traditional Central American culture, Bracamontes was not allowed in the kitchen – with this curiosity & passion ignited he moved north to Arizona, working in the restaurant industry for 15 years. In this time he has had the opportunity to work each position in the house honing his knowledge & growing his passion. He married his wife in Sedona, Arizona and moved to Portland in 2010. Chef Bracamontes graduated Le Cordon Bleu with high honors in 2012.
“His growth is a focus of this organization,” says Mr. Krikorian. “He embodies attention to detail, curiosity of flavor & a creative approach to food science.” In addition to the daily attention to the kitchen – Bracamontes is collecting the recipes from summer season ‘17 to launch the Il Terrazzo recipe book which will be out for print in Fall 2017.
In their specials concept, Il Terrazzo will be exploring different regions throughout all of Europe – they will highlight different regions & provinces throughout the Old World & keep inspiration alive through the idea that both guests & staff can explore a European destination together.
Following a successful sneak peek shared by local & industry critics, Il Terrazzo looks to the grand opening as an evening to showcase this extraordinary experience of Portland by creating a space where locals, international guest & out of towners can partake in this extraordinary place.
Launching with a well edited retail wine collection, short reserve list & foundational glass pours; Krikorian has built a classic bar menu keeping in place the existing bar built from reclaimed woods from Chateau Montelena. The environment is ideal for a date night, a midday respite, after work cocktail or glass of wine – Krikorian launched his Bodega concept in 2016 & has brought a collection of quality beers both local & international to the list.
To meet the quick needs of the neighborhood & guests Il Terrazzo has an in-house marketplace with artisan foods both local & international with both wine & boutique mixers for retail purchase.
The physical layout is bistro & trattoria in style with a solid wood Cellar door leading into the library – suited for private corporate meetings, dining & cocktail events. There is patio dining & an extraordinary Northwest view – making Il Terrazzo the premier destination for dining, event hosting or a glass of wine on the Willamette River.
The grand opening of Il Terrazzo will feature an event photographer, food & drink specials, and the restaurant complimentary $10 certificate to those who photograph the grand opening experience & share it on social media using the tag #MYTERRAZZO.
Located at 0315 SW Montgomery Street in Suite 340, Il Terrazzo is a short stroll down the Esplanade overlooking the Yachts harbored at Riverplace Marina.
