We begin May with our Friday tastings schedule plus a Special Wednesday event that you should mark on your calendar.
I will be traveling from May 15 through June 1, so cork will be closed for a few weeks as I wander through Italy looking for more inspiration for upcoming winefinds and Viola creations.
We’ll be open the regular Friday schedule this week and next, then I’m adding extra hours on Wednesday, May 13th. We’ll close for a few Fridays and then I’ll be back with regular Friday hours on June 5th. Look for lots of new fun things to come, including more Viola wines rolling out in the Summer months.
If you can’t make it down tonight to taste our new release, the Casa Viola White, you can kick off Oregon Wine Month by visiting Viola and 11 of our Urban winemaking friends at the PDX Urban Wine Experience happening this Sunday at Union Pine. 12 wineries. 30+ wines. Delicious nibbles. Don’t miss it!
Now here’s the details on those upcoming May tastings at cork.
See you soon,
Friday tastings are held from 4-7pm unless otherwise noted.
Friday, May 1 . 4pm – 7pm
Many of you have already enjoyed some of the 100% Moscato Giallo bottling that I released about a month ago under our Viola label. It’s made from organic grapes grown at the Allegre Vineyard in Hood River and we couldn’t be happier with the result. It’s also been warmly received by restaurants around town and can currently be found by
the glass at davenport, smallwares and Roe. It’s also just about sold out! So before it disappears, it’s time to do a little BATTLE OF THE GRAPES and pour it head-to-head with the wine that inspired me to make this in the first place, from ALOIS LAGEDER in Alto Adige. I’ll hunt down another Italian Moscato Giallo to round out the flight tonight. Come taste a flight of 3 wines for $8, waived if you purchase one of the wines poured at the event.
We’re also officially releasing our CASA VIOLA White blend today, so that will be available to taste ALL DAY LONG beginning at noon. This white features old-vine Gewürztraminer from Oak Ridge Vineyard and Sauvignon Blanc + Moscato Giallo from Allegre Vineyard. All certified organic fruit from the Columbia Gorge AVA. At our affordable Casa Viola price of $16/bottle (and the usual discounts applied for Viola Club and Cork Club members), it’s the perfect Viola wine to enjoy all Summer long. Come get some today. 62 cases produced.
Complimentary sips for those interested in tasting Casa Viola White + the option to buy a glass if you wish to sit and hang out at the wine bar.
Friday, May 8 . 4pm – 7pm
You’ve heard the radio ads. You’ve seen the tv commercials. Maybe you’ve gotten a bunch of email blasts. So you probably know that May is OREGON WINE MONTH! To celebrate the great diversity we now enjoy in our state, I’m pulling together 5 of my favorite new releases that are not made from the most famous Oregon grape. You’ll get to try Viognier, Cabernet Franc, Tannat and a few other surprises as we showcase that Oregon has gone beyond Pinot Noir in creating world-class wines for everyday enjoyment. Flight fee of $10, waived with the purchase of at least 1 bottle from the evening’s flight.
BIG TABLE FARM with NEW SPRING RELEASES!!!!
For Oregon Wine Month, what better visiting winemaker could we ask for than perhaps our favorite of all Pinot Noir producers whose glorious Pinots and elegant white wines have become not only popular with cork customers but some of the most sought-after, highly rated Oregon wines of all. Considering there are about 700 competing wineries now in this state, that is some pretty major company to be dominating, but Brian seems to have figured out some magic that he keeps putting into their gorgeous bottles with artwork created each vintage by Clare.
Tasting fee is $10 for the flight, waived if you purchase a bottle of Big Table Farm at the event. We can’t wait – come join us!
