2022 Oregon Winery to Watch

March 25, 2022

2022 Oregon Winery to Watch
Newberg, Ore. March 22, 2022: Potter’s Vineyard/Vino Vasai Wines have been selected as Great Northwest Wine Magazine’s Oregon Winery to Watch for 2022.
This award was created to recognize young, up-and-coming brands, whose wines have garnered media attention and exceptional wine reviews. A feature article will be published in the Spring 2022 issue of the magazine to commemorate these achievements.
PERSONAL MILESTONE: Bill retired from his full-time career as a Ph.D. Nutritionist in 2019. Sandy retired from her full-time teaching position in 2021.
WINE BUSINESS MILESTONES: Potter’s Vineyard and Vino Vasai Wines also are celebrating two major milestones in 2022. This is the 20th vintage of fruit from their Estate Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountain AVA of Willamette Valley, and the 10th Vintage of their Vino Vasai wines.
A series of events are planned to celebrate these milestones and these recent accolades. Their wines received several recent high scores in multiple reviews and competitions including back-to-back 93-point scores by James Suckling for the 2016 and 2017 Barrel Select Estate Pinot Noir; a 93-point score by Great Northwest Wine Magazine for the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon; and a 95-point score by Savor NW for the 2018 Barrel Select Pinot Noir, and many other 90+ scores.
Potter’s Vineyard and Vino Vasai wines also earned TWO DOUBLE GOLD MEDALS at the 2022 McMinnville Wine Classic Competition – the premier Oregon wine competition. This follows the winery’s FOUR DOUBLE GOLD MEDALS and a PLATINUM AWARD received in 2021.
What makes all of this even more incredible is that Potter’s Vineyard winery is committed to staying very small, producing less than 1,000 cases per year. Bill and Sandy Sanchez are the only two full-time employees – along with an assistant winemaker, tasting room associates, vineyard assistants, and their vineyard management company – grow their own grapes, make their own wine, and create pottery at their estate vineyard, pottery studio and winery.
