Time to Move on….. (and have a big sale in the tasting room!)
Finally… the estate Pinot Noir is in the bottle, and I have a label for it. It’s called “Willful“.
I think I can fairly be described, for better or worse, as willful, and without that characteristic, I don’t think I would have taken on the enormous challenge of continuing on with the vineyard and the winery by myself. Having taken it on, if I wasn’t willful, I’m not sure that I would have survived. Also, I think that Pinot Noir can fairly be described as willful. It is notorious for being a challenging grape to grow and to make in to wine. So, “Willful” seems appropriate for what I’m doing. I bottled just one wine from the 2011 vintage, and it will be released next month. We’re having a preview party in the vineyard on Saturday 1st September from 5-7pm. This will be a chance for you to walk the vineyard, ask questions, taste the soon-to-be-released wine and have an exclusive opportunity to purchase the wine before it’s available to anyone else. We’ll also have preview samples of the 2010 Brut Rosé which will be released later in the fall. If you’re interesting in coming, please let us know by emailing Jennifer or calling us at 503-538-4400.
So… what does this mean for Daedalus? Sadly, it means there will be no more of it. Jezebel will continue unchanged, but Daedalus will be making way for Willful. We have a few cases left of various wines and I’m eager to clear these out and move on to the next phase of the winery. We’re offering most of the remaining inventory at a greatly reduced price. Most of the wines will be 40-50% off – yes, even things like the 2008 Labyrinth Pinot Noir! Come and stock up in the tasting room or order online and we’ll ship to you as soon as the weather cools down enough. Do hurry!
