Aquariva to donate fifty percent of proceeds from new Purple Star drink to the
Relay for Life; available July 16 – 29
Portland, Ore. — July 10, 2012 — The Avalon Hotel and Spa has entered into a beneficiary partnership with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, featuring an abundance of giveaways and special services to kick off the event. The hotel’s restaurant, Aquariva, has created a special cocktail, titled the Purple Star, in honor of the event and cause. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the cocktail will be donated to the charity.
The Purple Star — only available July 16 – 29 — is a specialty martini with a lavender infused star that floats on top of the drink giving it a purple hue. The 2012 Relay for Life Portland is a 24 hour fundraising event taking place at Willamette Park in Southwest Portland, July 21 beginning at 4 p.m.
“We’ve had the privilege of serving many cancer patients from OHSU and neighboring hospitals, striving to offer as many special services as possible,” said Tom Robertson, General Manager of the Avalon Hotel & Spa. “That’s why partnering with this charity in particular is important to us. We are truly excited to be involved this year, helping raise money for such a positive organization.”
The Spa at the Avalon will also help participants relax and re-energize by donating two masseuses from the hotel’s luxurious spa to be onsite providing seated chair massages at the start of the event. The spa will also give away two packages to participants, including: a one month fitness package, and a Lovely Repose Spa Package, which features a sixty-minute facial, sixty-minute massage, 15-minute foot bath and champagne.
