Take me out to the ballgame!

“You see, there’s no guilt in baseball, and it’s never boring… which makes it like sex.” If you know what movie that line is from, then you’re a true baseball fan! Join us tomorrow at Sidebar starting at 4pm for our Baseball IPA Series Movie Night. Taste & compare the IPAs of our Baseball themed series: Yankee Clipper IPA, brewed in honor of Joe DiMaggio, a Yankee great; Stargell Stars IPA, named in honor of Pittsburgh Pirate great Willie Stargell; Roar of ’84 IPA, named for the Detroit Tigers most spectacular season, their last World Series championship; and Hammerin’ Hank IPA, named after the true Homerun King. For those who prefer soccer to baseball, we’ve rounded out the bases with North End CDA and and Kick Axe Dry Hopped Pale. Enjoy some peanuts, buy a few dogs, then settle in as we show the classic baseball movie Bull Durham starting at 7pm.

Then on Thursday, join Bryan & Irena for a Meet the Brewer and Bottle Tasting at The Portland Bottle Shop at 7960 SE 13th Ave from 5:30-7:30. On tap we’ll have Prime Directive IPA and Scarlet Red. We’ll be pouring bottle samples of C-Note, LSD and Proletariat Red. Come say hi!

On Friday & Saturday, hangout at Sidebar from 4-10 for Flamingo, our Kick Axe fermented in Cabernet Franc barrels with 35 pounds of sour cherries; Santiam Pale Ale; Bourbon Barrel Aged Wee Heavy; Bourbon Barrel Aged LSD; Old Tavern Rat Barleywine; and Blitzen Spiced Golden Ale.

Don’t forget, next Wednesday, January 23 is the release of our new Illegally Blonde Stout at Hedge House. This light colored, full-bodied beer will make you think it’s costumed and playing a role that’s not its own. Inspired by the German pale stouts of centuries old, it owes its body and bitter flavors to rolled oats and acidulated malts rather than dark, roasted ones. Centennial and Willamette hops contribute pleasant fruity and floral notes. Oh, and did we mention free food? We’ll tap the keg at 4pm; Hedge House is located at 3412 SE Division St.

Batch 69 Our popular Batch 69 Baltic Porter – aged over two years in Bourbon barrels – will be released on draft and in bottles on February 6 at Sidebar. This is a an excellent beer you won’t want to miss. Details on the release party to come.

In the meantime, stay warm and remember:  Drink Local. Drink Lompoc!
