Le Picandeu Frais is a lovely little fresh goat’s milk cheese — milky, mild, and pleasantly aromatic. About the size of a silver dollar, these disks are ideal for drizzling with honey or olive oil and spice, or served warm atop a salad. Perfect for a summer night’s nosh!

Friday Tasting: Sicilian Wines

It’s not easy to produce great wines in a place where volcanic eruptions, wild weather, and incredibly steep terrain make every season a challenge, but winemakers in Sicily are rising to the challenge. Some of the most interesting producers are focusing on the native varietals and natural winemaking, and their wines are garnering a lot of attention for their electric energy, intense minerality, and effusive fruit. We invite you to join us this Friday, June 22nd, for a tasting of several of these remarkable wines. Joe Moura from Casa Bruno will be here from 4:30 – 6:30pm to share tastes of the 2010 Barraco Zibibbo, 2010 Valdibella Grillo “Ariddu”, 2008 Gulfi di Vito Catania I.G.T. Sicilia Nero d’Avola “Nerojbleo”, and 2010 Valdibella Perricone “Acamante”. On this first weekend of summer, come by to taste the gifts of the volcano!
