James from Neal’s Yard Dairy will be in our shop tasting some of the farmstead cheeses that his company selects and ages from some of the U.K’s finest small producers. Come in, chat with James, and try some cheese.
Also tonight, and every Wednesday through winter, raclette continues from 6 to 8ish.
Thursday Tasting – Wines of the Mosel, Germany
I’m not sure whether it was my exposure to the phenomenal Rieslings of the Mosel that led me to learn about and gain respect for the tremendous character of the region and the people farming these vineyards. Or whether learning about the land and the effort it takes to craft these wines made me appreciate each sip of them even more. Either way, the transparency in these wines with regards to where they come from and how they are made, commands your attention.
So, you may be thinking…”German Riesling? In the winter? Really?” Indeed. In our opinion Riesling from the Mosel may quite simply be one of the best wines to pair with food, and for that matter one of the most dynamic and interesting wines we have the opportunity to represent, regardless of season or occasion. Low alcohol, tremendous minerality, plenty of acidity, why wouldn’t you have some Riesling on hand for all occasions? Don’t take my word for it, come in and taste for yourself Thursday evening from 5:30-7:30.
