Going beyond the neighborly cup of sugar, Kitchen Share SE will be a place where community
members can borrow equipment and share in the joy of processing, preserving, and serving
food.
A grand opening celebration will be held on August 21st at St. David of Wales, 2800 SE
Harrison Street, the home of this new community resource. From 5pm to 8pm, residents of
Southeast Portland can become members and try checking out a kitchen tool for the first time.
Come enjoy music, food and drink, and homemade ice cream on the front lawn. Feel free to
bring a snack to share and celebrate or simply sneak a peek at the library.
The library will offer a small collection of dehydrators, canning equipment, ice-cream makers,
food processors, bread makers, a nut sheller, a meat grinder, and more. As membership and
support grows, we hope to offer juicers, cider presses, place settings, and a variety of other food
processing tools.
The library will be open on Tuesdays from 5pm to 8pm and will be open to all residents of
Southeast Portland. There is a one-time membership donation of $10 – $30, sliding scale, but no
one is turned away for lack of funds. For more information and to donate or volunteer, visit
kitchenshare.org or email kitchensharese@gmail.com.
