Downtown coffeehouse offers new opportunities to engage and educate
PORTLAND, Ore. – July 21, 2010 – For those who love not only exceptional coffee, but also the well-versed conversation and informed interaction served up by world class baristas, Public Domain, Portland’s newest downtown coffeehouse, offers new opportunities to engage and experience a great cup of coffee.
Committed to telling the story of coffee’s journey from farm to roaster, then finally barista, Public Domain will add Private Cuppings and Guided Tastings to its menu of offerings. Gather a group of up to eight people for a Private Cupping and experience the professional technique used by roasters and baristas. You’ll go through the process as you compare and contrast the latest seasonal offerings from Public Domain, personal favorites or coffee from another roaster. Sip, share and learn, and leave with a half-pound bag of coffee and a greater appreciation of all there is to love—and know—about coffee. Private Cuppings for up to eight are $60.
Smaller groups can connect with the coffee in their cups in an all new way with Guided Tastings. In a barista competition style format, participants will experience a single coffee prepared different ways, including as a pour over and in espresso drinks from the Slayer, the shop’s innovative espresso machine. Participants leave with an understanding of coffee’s journey to the coffeehouse, as well as about various preparations. Guided Tastings for up to four are $50 and include a half-pound bag of coffee per person. Call 503.243.6374 to make arrangements for a Private Cupping or Guided Tasting.
Public Domain will continue to offer free public cuppings at 2pm on weekends, Happy Hour Espresso Tastings between 12-1pm on Mondays and 4- 6pm Thursdays, and Home Brewing classes on the first Saturday of the month at 11am.
