Tis’ the season to eat, drink and be merry! Start your Christmas Eve off right by treating visiting family and friends to a Portland style brunch at The Country Cat! Gather the ladies for a festive dinner New Years Eve, or cure that hangover on New Years Day with a big brunch. Come ring in the New Year with Adam and Jackie Sappington as they serve holiday specials that spread holiday cheer and compliment the regular menu.
Aside from their Smokey Bacon & Autumn Vegetable Hash, Caramel-Apple Pancakes and Shrimp and Grits, Adam and Jackie are introducing three specials for Christmas Eve Brunch:
Gingerbread Crepes – orange ricotta and cranberry sauce $10
New Years Eve is a night of celebration, a night to reflect on the old and anticipate the new. What better way to start the night than with some old favorites like Cornmeal Fried Trout or Hickory Smoked & Pecan Crusted Duck Leg along with some new specials:
Potted Crab and Parsley Cocktail – whole wheat crackers and deviled eggs $12
Butter Poached Maine Lobster – on a black-eyed pea and hominy succotash salad $16
Grilled Dry-Aged Cascade Red Beef – shrimp scampie butter and lacy potato cake

New Years Day can be a rough one after all that celebrating the night before. Come on down to The Cat for a Bloody Mary, Basket of Cinnamon Rolls, Cast Iron Fried Chicken or try the Hoppin’ John – pork chop, black eyed peas, collard greens and two eggs any style for $13.
In keeping with the season of giving, the folks behind the bar would like to share their recipe for a festive holiday punch. Serve with your holiday dinner or make a batch and let your loved ones pull from it as they wish; it is the holidays after all!
Holiday Punch!
(For a single drink)
1/2 oz. Clear Creek Cranberry Liqueur
1/2 oz. Gran Marnier
1/4 oz. Aperol
1/2 oz OJ
2-3 dashes Regan’s bitters
1 star anise pod
Shake, Pour over ice and top with sparkling wine.
Garnish with fresh cranberries and orange wedge
(For a “punch bowl”)
6 oz. Clear Creek Cranberry Liqueur
6 oz Gran Marnier
3 oz Aperol
3/4 cup OJ
12-14 dashes Regan’s bitters
6 star anise pods
Stir to mix. Ladle into glasses and top with sparkling wine. Garnish with orange wedges and cranberries
