David Speer will be pairing Champagnes to our five course dinner from his darling Champagne nook Ambonnay.   The menu will be along the lines of:

hors d’oeuvre  /  Michel Dervin Brut Rosé NV
shaved porcini & beef carpaccio with anise hyssop  /  Francois Boulard et Fille Les Mugiers Extra Brut (2007)
poached scrambled egg in fresh garlic cucumber cream with gravlax  /  Chartogne-Taillet Cuvée Brut NV
leg of Reister lamb, tomato cherry salad, & zucchini ricotta crespelle  /  André Clouet Grande Réserve NV
white balsamic-dressed heirloom lettuces & pea blossom
fresh goat cheese mousse with fresh & dried apricot coulis  /  Louis Roederer Carte Blanche Extra Dry NV

Little Gnome Farm in Ridgefield, WA
$85 + gratuity for five courses & wine

We jumped at the chance to cook at dinner at a farm called “Little Gnome!”  Deanna and Paul Cohen and their young daughters (the little gnomes!) are as dear as the name of their 10 acre farm only about twenty minutes away.

Dinner will simply celebrate their summer produce (and the duck eggs you see above!) under the boughs of their fall harvest pear & apple trees.  Wear your boots with your dress!

Dinner will reflect the week’s harvest, looking something like:

grilled duck mortadella & cherry mustard toasts
cilantro-dressed shredded kohlrabi with squash chips
duck egg omelette with fennel cream
braised Reister lamb with beet, Kentucky wonder bean, mint, & cash lettuce
honey goat’s milk cheese cake
