Dear readers,

I’m not a big fan of new year’s resolutions — which in my case seem perennially to fall by the wayside — but here’s one I know I’ll keep: In 2013, I vow to eat more escarole. Margarett Waterbury wrote about this amazing green this week on Culinate; one bite of her Escarole and Hazelnut Salad and I bet you too will be a fan. (Here’s a bonus: The salad is as good the second day as it was the first.)
