Join Forces to Help End Childhood Hunger in America

Portland, OR. (July 27th, 2012)–On Monday, October 15th, Share our Strength (Portland) will present its 2nd annual No Kid Hungry Dinner at Irving St. Kitchen. The exclusive evening for 120 guests will include dinner prepared by an all-star roster of chefs, and an acoustic set performed by Grammy Award winner k.d. lang. The dinner benefits Share our Strength’s program to connect kids to the programs that can help them get the food they need.

Irving St. Kitchen’s Chef Sarah Schafer has worked with Share our Strength (SOS) since her years at Gramercy Tavern. She has looked to support the cause of ending childhood hunger through her craft. “This is an important cause to me,” she said. “Share our Strength works very hard to provide healthy food to children while creating awareness for the problems many families face.  It has been a gift for me to become part of the SOS community of amazing chefs and donors.  I am so happy that I can extend our reach and work by involving new and old friends to help raise money in Portland for the organization.”

Following a cocktail reception, Chef Sarah Schafer will host chefs Floyd Cardoz of North End Grill, New York, NY; Richard Reddington of Redd and Redd Wood, Yountville, CA; Sean Coyne of Grand Central Bakery, Portland, OR; and Jason French of Ned Ludd, Portland, OR. The chefs will work together to prepare a multi-course meal paired with local Oregon wines drawn from Irving St. Kitchen’s selections of small producers.

The evening will also include spectacular music from the multi-Grammy Award winning artist, k.d. lang, who will perform a short acoustic set exclusively for this event. There will be silent and live auctions throughout the night, with commentary by special guest Sheila Hamilton of KINK FM.

Tickets are available now: table sales begin at $2,500 for a table for four with “Sous Chef” seating, $5,000 for “Chef de Cuisine” (a table for eight) and $6,000 for a “Chef’s Table” (a table for six that includes gifts, souvenirs, menus signed by the chefs and more.) Proceeds go to Share our Strength with a dedicated percentage of the funds staying specifically in Oregon. All donations are tax deductible.

With a team of highly celebrated and talented chefs, Sarah Schafer’s passion for Share our Strength’s mission, and the intimate acoustic set by a world-class musician, this charity event will be one of the most important of the year. This is a rare opportunity to share a fantastic meal and a night of music for a great cause.  For more info and tickets go to http://ce.strength.org/events/no-kid-hungry-dinner-portland-or.
