Acadia Bistro Celebrates Christmas New Orleans-Style with Réveillion Dinner
December 3, 2012 – Portland, OR – Acadia Bistro is inviting Portlanders to make merry in good NoLa fashion this holiday season by joining the restaurant for a Réveillion Dinner on Christmas Eve. Derived from the French word for “awakening,” réveillon originally was a meal served after midnight mass on Christmas Eve. Hungry families returning from late-night church services would set upon a feast prepared in advance and laid out on the table or sideboard. Acadia has been hosting a Réveillion Dinner since 2004 and remains a popular feasting option for diners who want to enjoy time out with family and friends.
The sumptuous set menu includes a variety of New Orleans favorites and twists-on-classics, prepared by chef Adam Higgs:
First Course (Choose One):
Crawfish tail and egg remoulade
Louisiana style BBQ shrimp
Chanterelle mushroom and onion tartlet with Creole mustard beurre blanc
Second Course (Choose One):
Pear and delicate squash salad with Portland creamery chèvre, pecans, spiced pepper vinaigrette
Rabbit and andouille and Tasso gumbo with white rice
Louisiana snappin’ turtle soup au sherry with crumbled egg
Entrée Course (Choose One):
Daube de veau with roasted root vegetables and truffled thyme jus
House-made Tur-Duc-Hen with Creole cornbread dressing and honey-sage gravy
Gulf shrimp and eggs Sardou with spinach Madeleine and house biscuits
Cornmeal fried catfish with braised greens, butternut squash and red chile aioli
Goat cheese gnocchi with fried sage chanterelle mushrooms, apples, pecans and brown butter
Dessert Course:
Banana bread pudding with banana rum sauce
Bûche de Noël
Époisses cheese with dates and honey
Patrons need not wait until midnight, as Acadia’s Réveillion Dinner will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Monday, December 24th. The cost is $35 per guest, and reservations are recommended. An 18% gratuity will be added to parties of six or more. Call (503) 249-5001 to reserve seats.
