January 2013
From the Artemis Kitchen

I know that technically January is still deep Winter in many ways, but the passing of the Holiday season and the promises that a New Year brings, already has me thinking of Spring. How many ways can we present winter squashes, apples, pears, kale and root vegetables? I am still counting…Some of the last of our Chanterelle mushrooms were served to a late December bride and her wedding guests. And we are wrapping up with the last of our slow roasted grape conserves that we serve on our cheese platters. I am looking forward to the first of the spring greens, rhubarb and Morels. Stay tuned for our spring menus which we expect to launch in March!
                                                                          Until then,
                                                                          Grace

A New Kitchen for Artemis

Artemis Foods has moved! We are settled into a brand new building at SE 3rd and Clay, right next to the new streetcar line! This is some of the first new construction in the Central Eastside in several years and we hope it is a sign of an upswing in the economy. We are proud to be in the corner unit with floor to ceiling windows to let in the natural light and a view of downtown. Well built by Lorentz Bruun, we are enjoying sustainable and environmentally responsible  building standards such as natural light, LED fixtures, Energy Star appliances, a bioswale in the parking lot, low VOC materials and even a heated bike room for our cycling staff and friends.
